Our group is very interested in traveling to the United States. We have some questions:
1. What is the most typical form of travel?
2. How much do you travel a year?
3. Is it very expensive to travel in the States?
4. What are the most interesting places to visit in the summer?
5. What are the most interesting places to visit in the winter?
6. What are the most interesting places for young people to visit?
We hope that these questions will be interesting for you, and we will answer these questions about Spain below so that you will know about traveling in Spain.
1. ¿Cuál es la forma más típica de viajar?
Los jóvenes españoles utilizamos más el coche por ser un medio más rápido y práctico La gente mayor, extranjera , y los jóvenes por debajo de los dieciocho años, utilizan mas el transporte público … tren, autobús y avión. Además hay precios especiales para los mayores y los jóvenes.
2. ¿Cuánto viajamos al año?
La población española se desplaza mas en períodos festivos como Navidad, Semana Santa , etc. … aunque también los fines de semana las familias que viven en las grandes ciudades se desplazan hacia sus pueblos natales que son mas tranquilos y es donde pueden descansar.
3. ¿Es muy caro viajar en España?
Depende del medio de transporte que se utilice y de la época del año en que se quiera viajar ( Navidad, Semana Santa, etc. ..) . Se pueden comprar los billetes con antelación a través de internet a mejor precio.
4. ¿Cuál son los lugares más visitados en verano?
Las zonas costeras, como la Comunidad Valenciana y Andalucía, aunque actualmente se visita mucho también las zonas rurales por la tranquilidad que ofrecen estos lugares. Aunque parezca contradictorio , también las grandes ciudades como Madrid y Barcelona son visitadas por muchos veraneantes en Verano.
5. ¿Cuáles son los lugares mas visitados en invierno?
Quizás las estaciones de esquí suelen ser los lugares mas elegidos por la población española en esta época. Los pueblos natales donde las familias se reúnen, también son muy populares en este período del año.
6. ¿ Cuáles son los lugares mas visitados por los jóvenes españoles?
Las islas como Ibiza, Mallorca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, son lugares muy llamativos para la gente joven por su ambiente, buen clima y las fiestas que allí se organizan.

1. Within the United States, I usually travel by car. However, when I go back home to Maryland, I either take a plane (1 hour) or bus (9 hours). Buses are the cheapest form of transportation.
2. I travel outside of the country quite often because of my studies. This past year, I was in Ghana, Italy and Mexico.
3. It used to be very cheap to take airplanes, but because of rising gas prices, it is very expensive to travel.
4. In the summer time, there is a very famous place called Martha's Vineyard that my friends and I like to visit. It is a quaint town with mom-and-pop shops. The water is very cold, though!
5. In the wintertime, there are a lot of places to ski around Boston. New York City is also very fun to visit because of all the Christmas decorations!
6. I think young people would like visiting New York City. It is a very busy place full of activities and crazy lights!

People usually travel by car if it's local. With the rising gas prices though, more people are using public transportation like subways and buses because it is cheaper.
2. How much do you travel a year?
I travel more often during the breaks, because I am very busy during the school year. This past April, I travelled to Florence and Rome in Italy. It was gorgeous!
3. Is it very expensive to travel in the States?
Although gas prices are rising, it is still less expensive to travel within the United States. JetBlue is a very popular domestic airline that flies only within the country, if you want to fly. You can also sign up with a tour group and travel together in a Coach bus, which is a lot cheaper. You need to do your research though before you sign yourself up for that though!
4. What are the most interesting places to visit in the summer?
In the summertime, many people go to the beaches. However, it is also a good time to go sightseeing in popular places like the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Las Vegas (Nevada), Niagara Falls (New York, and Hershey Park(Pennsylvania).
5. What are the most interesting places to visit in the winter?
Many American families like to go skiing and snowboarding in the winter at mountain resorts, which are found almost anywhere with a mountain range. Several ones in Vermont are the Stratton Ski Resort, and the Okemo Mountain Resort. There are also resorts in Northern California, such as Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort. Even when there is not enough snowfall, many of these places can produce artificial snow so that people can still ski!
6. What are the most interesting places for young people to visit?
Like YeSeul said, I think New York is one of the best places for foreign exchange students to visit. But then again, I am from New York so I am biased! :) Other suggestions would be California and Florida. Both states have very nice weather and tons of nightlife and cultural activities for young people.

It depends on where you're going. I tend to travel locally mostly, by car or bus. Sometimes train. When I go home to Chicago, I fly, but most of the time I drive to other states nearby or Canada.
2. How much do you travel a year?
I like to travel a lot. I try to get out of Massachusetts as much as possible. I frequent New Hampshire and Maine to go on ski trips during the Winter and I hike during the Fall, Spring, and Summer. During breaks, I like traveling out of the country. For example, I went to the Dominican Republic for Spring Break last year.
3. Is it very expensive to travel in the States?
I think it is much more expensive to travel around the US than it is to travel around Europe. Flights are a lot more expensive and our cars use much more gas. On the other hand, there are a lot of things to do on the East Coast, and traveling around here isn't too bad because there are a lot of things nearby.
4. What are the most interesting places to visit in the summer?
In the summer, I think it's interesting to go to national parks or up North to Niagara Falls or other places like that. There are a lot of touristy places that are much more accessible in the summer than in the other seasons, especially winter.
5. What are the most interesting places to visit in the winter?
For me, skiing is the number one thing to do in the Winter. There are many resorts very close to Boston, and MIT has a program called snowriders which organizes trips almost every weekend, which is awesome. It's my favorite sport and it's very easy to go a lot during the winter.
6. What are the most interesting places for young people to visit?
I think interesting places for young people to visit are cities, like NY or Chicago. I am from Chicago and I think it's a great city that's full of culture. If you want a taste of the diversity of life in the United States, cities are definitely the place to go. I also think seeing national parks and hiking through them is an awesome thing to do for young people. It's one of the things that lets you see the beauty of the country and at the same time get a rewarding physical experience.

I think traveling by car is the most common form of travel in California. California is pretty big and it's hard to get from city to city without a car. If you come to California, I would highly recommend renting a car and taking Highway 101 (the Pacific Coast Highway) to travel North-South--it has one of the most breathtaking views of the coast line and is a really fun drive.
2. How much do you travel a year?
I'd say we probably travel less than you guys do, maybe going places only on big holidays (Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.)
3. Is it very expensive to travel in the States?
Unfortunately, yes. Especially with gas prices the way they are!
4. What are the most interesting places to visit in the summer?
California is beautiful all year round, but there are great places to go in the summer:
-San Francisco: this city is on the northern California bay. It's known for its hopping night life and really vibrant culture. Tons of stuff to do here!
-Los Angeles: If you like the beach, Hollywood stars, and beautiful houses, LA is the place for you. You can also check out Disney Land and Universal Studios, two theme parks that are very popular.
-Napa Valley: Visit California's wine country! Some of the wineries let you try their wine too (yum!).
-Outdoor activities: California is a great place to be in the summer if you like outdoor activities! You can kayak on the ocean, go hiking in state or national parks, surf, sail, rock climb...you have lots of options if you're the outdoors type.
5. What are the most interesting places to visit in the winter?
Luckily, most of California has a really mild winter (no snow), so you can do most of the "summer" activities in winter too. But if you like skiing, then Lake Tahoe has some really great slopes. There are also some good winter hikes in the mountains if you have the right gear.
6. What are the most interesting places for young people to visit?
I love San Francisco, I think its a great place for young people to visit since it has so much cultural activity all the time.
I hope some of you get a chance to some day visit Cali. It's a wonderful state (the best state, in my opinion) and offers a lot of stuff to do for a traveler!
